The Science Faculty is located in a new sustainable building called the Nucleus. It comprises 10 teaching rooms, 2 open learning spaces, a ‘Super-lab’, (capable of accommodating over 90 pupils at any one time) as well as external teaching spaces. The building facilitates flexible teaching and learning, and is built to meet the requirements of 21st Century education.
The Nucleus forms part of the STEM facilities on the Brougham Hayes Campus. STEM is a cross-curricular discipline comprising Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Its value to the UK economy is widely believed to be around £800 billion each year. STEM is growing significantly at Hayesfield and many opportunities are being developed. Again, this broadens the curriculum that we offer, and also to demonstrates the links between subjects which is important for the skills needed to enter the workforce.
