Annette Hayton – Chair of Governors
I became Chair of Governors at Hayesfield in October 2016 after serving as a Community Governor for two years. I moved to Bath in 2012 to take up the post of Head of Widening Participation at the University of Bath, a post I held until July 2018. A large part of the role was managing and developing activities to help school students find out more about higher education and careers, so I came to know our local schools quite well. I have worked in education for most of my career in various roles and strongly believe that a good school should have high expectations of all students as this is a key element to academic success.

Now retired, I was formerly an internal auditor in the NHS, managing a consortium for 3 hospital trusts and 4 primary care trusts. My daughter spent 7 happy years at Hayesfield, qualified at the Royal Veterinary College and is now a vet in Nottinghamshire. My son completed his A Levels at Hayesfield, graduated from University College London and now teaches English at a Chinese school in Hong Kong.
I became a governor in 1993 and am now a Community Governor. When my son left Hayesfield in 2002, I stayed on, mainly because of the exciting capital projects we were about to embark on. For much of my time as a governor, I chaired what is now the Business Committee, of which I remain a member.
