We are very proud of our extra-curricular opportunities and want to continue providing enriching activities for you, even when our School is closed to the majority of students. In this section you can see our wide range of engaging activities to do beyond your school work.
Staff and students have provided a wide variety of activities as listed below. We aim to update these regularly and if you have any ideas of activities we should share across our Hayesfield community then please let us know through LEAP@hayesfield.com
We would also love to hear how your own extra-curricular activities are going during the closure. Please send any photos and captions you have to LEAP@hayesfield.com and we can share the fun in our School Bulletin.

Mrs Lisney’s Fashion Fix
Fashion styles before, during and after WW2
Look at the fashion designs for Womenswear in 1930, 1940 and 1950 above.
Can you see how the availability of resources such as fabric and components and skilled labour have influenced them? Skirt lengths, skirt shapes, style details, decorative details, amount and number of fabrics needed and accessories to enhance?
Design challenge:
Clothes rationing ended in 1949, so imagine you are a teenager 70 years ago in 1950 rather than 2020. There maybe people in your family who can share photos of clothes they were wearing in that era?
Hopefully VE Day – 75 celebrations will still go ahead in some form or another and will be something for us all to look forward to, so…
Design an outfit that incorporates the styling details of the 1950’s, for a VE celebration or for an occasion of your own choice.
You can download fashion poses to trace over using plain paper against a window. Alternatively, you can trace off a pose from a fashion magazine using greaseproof paper. Place this behind a piece of plain paper and design your outfit on top.
I would love to see your creations, remember no limits on colour, fabric and components! Send them to me j.lisney@hayesfield.com

DJ Cordero – Vamos a Bailar/Let’s Dance!
So, maybe you listened to some of the French song list last week. Now it’s time for some music in Spanish, from Spain and Latin America! Here is the first song list for you to enjoy over Easter. All the tracks are dance tracks, so you can dance along to them, do your keep fit, or just listen.
Why not look up the artists and find out which country they are from, what style/rhythm of music it is, learn some of the dance steps to it?
One track in particular has some easy lyrics to have a go at – check out Marc Anthony – Vivir la vida.

Corona Captured
Dear Secondary Schools,
We would like to invite your staff and pupils to take part in our project to record personal experiences of the extraordinary times we live in.
We would like people to write journals of their daily lives at this time. It doesn’t have to be written, it can be drawn, videoed or even sung. We would especially like to invite contributions from the younger members of society as we feel that they have a unique perspective on events going on around us – that may not occur to adults.
It can also be a cathartic experience for everyone – it gives them a chance to express thoughts and feelings that they may not be able to say out loud.
We have a set up a website with information and guidelines for use in compiling your journals. This includes some guidance questions that may be suitable for younger children – although they are welcome to contribute whatever they feel. Please visit https://www.batharchives.co.uk/corona-captured for more information, or email archives@bathnes.gov.uk directly.
We do hope you and your pupils will be able to contribute.
Best wishes, and stay safe,
Anne Buchanan
