Religious Studies

Our Vision
A high-quality education exploring religions and beliefs in the world which will help students develop a wider knowledge and respect of their own beliefs and the beliefs of others.

Welcome to Philosophy and Beliefs at Hayesfield. We are an experienced and enthusiastic team and love exploring all issues related to Philosophy and Beliefs. Philosophy and Beliefs is taught in the Lower School, from Year 7 to Year 9. Students can opt to take Religious Studies as a GCSE option in Year 10, either as the full course or as a short course. Philosophy and Ethics as an A Level option offered in our Sixth Form.

Our Aims:

  • To provide students with the relevant SMSC (spiritual, moral, social and cultural) skills to be properly prepared for life
  • To enrich students’ understanding of the religions in the world and to foster within them a sense of empathy and understanding
  • To encourage students to question what is ethical in the world and the impact they have on the world around them
