July 08, 2020

Monday 13th – Friday 17th July

For the final week of the school year we really wanted to do something a bit different and, as we have not been able to have Enrichment Week, we thought we’d add a little enrichment to the work we set.

Your Task:

For this week, you should aim to complete at least one activity of their choice and will need to report back to their Tutor Group. However, we never want to set any limits and you are very welcome to complete more if you wish and in subjects you are not necessarily studying.

Make sure you keep evidence of what you have created and photos of what you have achieved, or better still, why not bring in a folder of your work. Prizes will be handed out for different categories, so let’s see that commitment and creativity at work.

Parents- feel free to join in. We’d love to see your efforts as well.

Duncan Powell
Deputy Headteacher

  • How much will you put on each page (remember 3-5 year olds attention span is short)
  • What colours will you use?
  • What writing will be included?
  • What pictures will you include?
  • Write a short blurb for the back cover

Computing – Programming Pick ‘n’ Mix

What will I be doing?

1) Model of a Garden
You can work on your own, in a small group, if you can you could meet in a garden and make something together (making sure you are distancing), or in a pair.
This is an optional project to see the end of the year through and I hope will be fun and interesting!
I would like you to take your ideas from your smart garden and make a small model of your garden, or you could model a gadget of the future instead! Be creative and have fun!

2) Continuation of a website design
You can use this time to gather further information on your website, you could look at Wix and come up with a design so you can then code it in HTML in year 9.

3) Python programming
You could set yourself a programming task to complete in Python using Repl.it.

How do I know I’ve done well?

Garden
Your model will have some 3D aspects, and demonstrate some models and materials for things such as grass, garden tools, and toys.

Website
You would have gathered pictures, information and materials ready for your website design. You could use an online website design software to start planning and laying out your website with working links and pictures.

Python

Hayesfield Governors have been exploring the possibility of becoming full members of Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership (MNSP). We have been looking into partnership possibilities over the last few years and are pleased to say that MNSP shares our values of excellence and inclusivity as well as being a financially viable, well-organised partnership.

You can find more detail about what this would mean in the letter, which you can find attached below. In addition, I have made a short video for you to watch: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nA66v_o2IkL7zq8M1YTZEMCuRjykqY6F/view?usp=sharing

The Governors would welcome your views by 3rd July in advance of the next Full Governing Body Meeting where we plan to make the final decision. Please email the Clerk to the Governors Alison Norris – A.Norris@hayesfield.com.

In May 1945 the war in Europe came to an end. Millions of people up and down the country greeted the news with singing and dancing in the streets.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we still want to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day and this pack will help you put together your own celebrations.

COVID-19 may have meant many community activities have been cancelled however why not consider a socially distanced celebration at home!

#StayHomeSaveLives
Please ensure your celebration respects all the social distancing guidelines in place relating to COVID-19. Why not celebrate at home with a garden tea party and games or a sing-a-long with members of your household. For the latest social distancing guidelines visit gov.uk/coronavirus

However you choose to celebrate at home please make sure you have fun responsibly at this time.
Show us how you’re celebrating! Share your party photos with @WiltsCouncil

on Twitter and @WiltshireCouncil on Facebook using #VEDayWilts.

Don’t forget to also share your second world war stories, family histories and messages of remembrance on social media using #VEDay75 to join the conversation now.

This pack includes:

  • A postcard to show your support for VE Day
  • Fun VE Day themed activities
  • Sing-a-long lyrics to popular 1940’s songs
  • Tasty 1940’s inspired food and drink recipes to serve on the day

  • You must use the Hayesfield colours: Purple, Black and White
  • The logo should reflect our heritage and connection with the city of Bath
  • The logo should either fit into a rectangular or round border so set your design in either a rectangle or circle

All students will be running a mile in their PE lessons during the week of Sports Relief.

In addition, Friday 13th March will be a sports-themed mufti day, the theme is ‘Get your kit on’. All staff and students must pay £1 to wear sports-themed mufti.

Perhaps you play for a local football or hockey team, do horse riding, fencing, karate, street dance or just want to wear your Hayesfield Sports kit to school that day – this is your opportunity to wear your kit with pride.

Please note that the dress code is no jeans, no crop tops and remember that you’ll want to keep warm during the day. You have to look like you are going to be doing some form of sporting activity, if not, you’ll be asked to change in to school PE kit.
