Achieving your ambitions through limitless aspirations

Next week Hayesfield will be joining tens of thousands of schools and colleges across the country in celebrating National Careers Week 2020. There will be activities for all year groups from Year 7 to 13. We are really looking forward to it.

Thank you to all the parents who contacted us with offers of help we have over 30 coming in to take part in assemblies, lessons, masterclasses and LEAP activities. In addition to this, students will be learning about careers in all their subjects and can participate in the Career Bingo activity where there are prizes to be won (they’ll find out more from their tutors)!

We hope our students enjoy celebrating Careers Week and learn lots about inspirational career pathways that enable them to achieve their ambitions, whatever they may be.

World Book Day

World Book Day, Thursday 5th March (Week A), Share A Story

To break from our time-honoured tradition of dressing up as various characters from books, Hayesfield is opting for a mask-themed World Book Day 2020. Year 7 and 8 have already been looking at this during Art lessons:

World Book Day mask should:

  • Bring to life a story which has had a significant impact on your life
  • Represent the themes and concepts in the book- as opposed to an individual character
  • Use a range of artistic techniques, words (quotations) to best represent your story

Need to garner some ideas on how to bring something more abstract to life?- Take a look at Millie Parr’s amazing War Horse collage-
this was for her World Book Day presentation, but would work well in the form of as mask with a collation of all the images which best represent the book.

Ultimately, you need to be able to share a story that is important to you- Share A Story is all about those stories (fictional) you have read which have, in some way, had a significant impact on your life. Whether it is because through reading that story, you have chosen to take up a new hobby, seen something in a completely different light or made you reflect on something differently, our World Book Day is all about sharing those influential, perspective-changing reads.

Dear Parent/Carer

GCSE & Post 16 Revision Fair – Hayesfield Exam Ninja Training Academy
Thursday 6th February, 2020 5.00pm – 7.00pm
West Wing, Upper Oldfield Park Campus

I am delighted to invite you to our GCSE and Post 16 Revision Fair for all students in Year 10, 11 and 13 and their parents or carers.
The aim of the evening is to offer a range of practical advice and resources to fully support you and your daughter as we embark on the exam season.

This event will be held at the Upper Oldfield Park Campus and will commence with a short presentation at 5.00pm.
For this event, instead of a series of presentations in one location, we will be providing a series of stalls alongside a choice of presentations to allow you to focus on areas that suit you and your son / daughter. We will have a number of staff present throughout the evening to act as “Experts” in revision – they will not be there to talk specifically about one subject but to offer support and guidance on how to manage revision
and deal with the pressure of exams. You can find the programme for the evening overleaf.

I hope that you are able to join us for the evening and I look forward to seeing you there. We would be grateful if you can confirm attendance by emailing events@hayesfield.com.

Yours sincerely

Mr Philip White
Deputy Headteacher (Achievement)

Hayesfield students voiced their concern about climate change by singing together at school during Friday lunchtime. Our students were able to support the national campaign without missing any school. It looks like they had great fun, too.
