Sports Day – Wednesday 28th June 2017

We are getting very excited that it is getting to that time of year again when the whole school gathers at the University of Bath for our annual Sports Day. Set out below are a few important details.

Date: Wednesday 28th June 2017
Time: 11.00am – 2.15pm
Place: University of Bath, Athletics track

You are most welcome to join us and cheer on your daughter and her House.

Getting to the University
There will be buses from both Upper Oldfield Park and Brougham Hayes Campuses going to the University. We will be leaving school from 10.00am. Students should arrive at school in their sports kit for registration in tutor bases at 8.20am as per the normal school day. There will be a change to Period 1 of the school day and students will be informed of the activities running closer to the event.

Getting back from the University
All students will be returned to School to be dismissed at 3.05pm unless they have returned the reply slip giving permission for your daughter to leave the University after Sports Day has finished. It is essential that you complete the slip and return it to either reception by Friday 16th June.

Students leaving from the University
There are public buses that run regularly from the University into town. If your daughter is catching one of these please make sure she knows the details of the bus, i.e. number and destination. Alternatively, you may wish to collect her. However, she will not be dismissed from the University unless a slip has been returned by the specified date and until the results have been announced at around 2.15pm.

What will students be doing?
Students will be competing in many different track and field events to win points for their House, including a whole school fun run (800m) to raise money for charity. Each student is asked to donate at least 20p to our House charity ‘School in a Bag’. The winning House will be the team with the most points at the end of the day and we make a big deal of celebrating our success over the day.

In the event of poor weather
You will be informed on the morning via the school website of any necessary changes. In the event of poor weather, Sports Day will be cancelled and normal lessons will resume.

What can students wear?
Students must come to school in sports kit however they are allowed to wear a coloured t-shirt (no sleeveless vests) in their House colour, shorts and trainers. Students are also encouraged to make flags and banners to celebrate their Houses.

Please remember that it can get very hot at the University and so we strongly recommend that students take with them a hat, an umbrella to shade under, sun cream and lots of water to drink. Students will be required to bring a packed lunch unless they are entitled to free school meals which will be provided.

This is always a day the whole school really enjoys and we know 2017 will be another great success. It is both a celebration of sporting talent and an enjoyable, fun and colourful day when every student contributes to the success of their House.

If you have any questions regarding the day, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your support of this whole school event.

Yours sincerely
