Extension Week is an opportunity for us to extend what we do with your daughters by having whole days of activity rather than splitting the day up into 5 periods.
As well as being fun things to do, all of the activities planned link directly to the curriculum that your daughter is following.
Students will work with other students in their year group, but in different groupings to those which they normally do.
Students have had letters this week with full details of the week including times, cost, arrangements and uniform requirements, which we hope will answer all of your questions relating to the week.
Any further questions please email Mrs Cleveland marked 'Extension Week' on information@hayesfield.com.

The time to put down those books for the Readathon is this Friday (the stroke of midnight) and a huge well done to all our girls who've taken part. From listening to so many stories throughout the last two weeks, I know that between us we've read hundreds of books and raised lots of money for a very worthwhile cause.
But don't stop yet...
We've still got the rest of this week to go and that's plenty of time to add more to your list.
If you've run out of books or ideas make sure you get down to the library at lunchtime where Mrs Atkins will be more than happy to find you a riveting read to round off this radical Readathon.
Mr Powell
Readathon is a charity that runs the UK's biggest sponsored reading campaign. It provides a stimulating focus for recreational reading and raises money for seriously ill children and this year Hayesfield School are proud to take part in their own reading marathon.
Starting from today, students in Years 7 and 8 have been challenged to read as many books as they can in three weeks. The final date for putting their books down is the 11th June and we would really encourage you to support your daughter's efforts.
Students can read whatever books they like (suitable to their age range of course) and there will be prizes for those students who read the most and certificates for everyone taking part.
Good luck to everyone taking part and let's make every effort to read our way to raising a fantastic amount for these very worthy charities- and certainly enjoying ourselves along the way!

On Tuesday we went to the University of Bath and took part in the Salters Festival of Chemistry where two fun challenges took place. The first one was ‘Who Killed Captain Slater’ which was forensic science and the second one was ‘Can you save the Tardis’ which was about mixing two substances to make a certain temperature. Unfortunately, we did not come first, second or third but we had a great day and would definitely love to do it again.

On Friday, 14th May, thirty three Year 10 girls and twenty eight Beechen Cliff boys began their camping experience for Silver Duke of Edinburgh with a mini-expedition to Cwn Du in Wales. All students had a challenging climb and navigation training. The completed a 12km route on Saturday. As usual most girls were extremely well-behaved and learnt a lot. We look forward to seeing their skills progress on Dartmoor in September. Thanks to eleven staff who gave up their weekend to help train and keep them safe.
For photos from this expedition, please visit our Duke of Edinburgh page.

Over the Easter holidays Ms Trueman travelled to China with a group of teachers from 7 other schools in BANES to make links with schools in the city of Suzhou in China. The purpose of this was to begin to give students and staff in both places the opportunity to learn from each other’s approaches to education. Over the next few years we hope to create opportunities to learn more about China and develop contact with students and members of staff from Suzhou schools.

What a day; there were TV crews, radio and other media here to see Amy return to her old school.
Amy Williams started her Bath celebration tour from Hayesfield Upper School on Wednesday 3 March. She talked to the students and conducted a Question and Answer session in the Hall.
Amy was presented with gifts and flowers and Erica Draisey, the Headteacher, invited Amy to open our new Sports and Performing Arts Centre when it is completed early in 2011. Amy said she would be delighted!
Teachers, parents and friends were all here to offer their congratulations. The open top bus was waved off by our Sixth Form boys and girls as well as students and staff, with much waving of flags and cheering.
Amy completed her secondary schooling at Hayesfield Girls’ School before going on to the Sixth Form at Beechen Cliff.
She has been competing in the skeleton since 2002 and won Silver at last year's world championships in Lake Placid, New York. She lives in Bath, training at her event and working on a degree in Sports Performance at Bath University.
Congratulations to Amy from everyone here at Hayesfield
If you have registered for ParentMail, you will be receiving an electronic copy of the Weekly Bulletin this week. If you have not registered yet, but would like to do so, please complete the tear-off slip at the bottom of this week's Bulletin and return to the school offices.
