Cross Country Success!
Our Cross Country team took on Kingswood, KES, Monkton, Redmaids’ and Bristol Grammar School in an annual Kingswood Cross Country Challenge. The individual course was a tough 2.8km hill based course followed by a 8km relay race. Out of the 6 individual medals available, Hayesfield secured 4 of these!
Special mention to Poppy (11AR) – 1st, Polly (10SR) – 2nd, Poppy (11EL) – 3rd and Elsa (7PL) – 3rd. Absolutely incredible!!
Year 8 B&NES Netball Tournament
This tournament was one of my favourite moments of the Netball season so far as the girls struggled to find their feet in their early group games but showed such determination and focus and grew throughout the tournament. With a convincing semi-final win against Ralph Allen the team faced Wellsway in the final. In the group stages we lost 9-1 to Wellsway, however the girls made so much progress throughout the afternoon that the second time we played Wellsway we lost 8-7 in the final second!
A special mention to Amelie (9EL) and Amity (9EL) for their outstanding shooting throughout the tournament. Defensive mentions go to Catalina (9EL) and Presleigh (9EL).
U15 Netball vs Bristol
We had a great start to Term 2 with an impressive with result from our U15 netball team vs Bristol Free School. They will now progress through to Round 3 of the National Bowl. Special mention to Amelie (10AR) and Phoebe (10AR) on receiving player of the match, and to Emily (10SR) for her excellent shooting throughout the game!
U19 Netball vs Monkton
It was great to see our Sixth Form netball team compete in their first fixture this year. They had an impressive start to the game, with outstanding shooting from Jayde (13SL)! Unfortunately, Monkton pulled ahead in the third quarter and despite drawing the last quarter, it wasn’t enough to get the win! We look forward to seeing this team develop throughout the season.
U19 Football National Cup Round 2
On Thursday the 7th November, our U19 football team travelled to Plymouth to face Ivybridge Community College in the second round of the National Cup.
It was a very competitive first half with both teams fighting hard to take control of the game. We took the lead through a great effort from Tia, helped with an assist by Mils.
The second half is when we really started to thrive in the game and the goals started to fly in! Mils ended up with a hatrick and so did Tia. There was some great football on display, topped with a trademark Nicky long-range goal to end the game 7-0!
Player of the match: it could go to anyone in the team, particularly our hatrick heros Tia and Mils, but this week we have chosen to give it to Nell. She was everywhere on the pitch and did an excellent job of shutting down the opposition’s attacks and starting our own!
