We advise parents/carers to complete the In Year Application Form in full. Please note Section 4 has to be completed by your daughter’s current/most recent school (we cannot progress the application unless this is completed). We also require the Application Form – Supplementary Information to be completed in full and sent with the In Year Application Form.
Please return both completed forms to the In Year Admissions Secretary at Hayesfield Girls’ School. The application will then be reviewed and considered by the Governors’ Admissions Panel.
Should you need any further help or guidance please do not hesitate to contact the School.
Our process is straightforward. We recommend you visit the school and arrange a tour so you and your child are happy to apply. On the website, you complete the In Year Application form which you then send to our Admissions Team. We cannot accept applications that have not been verified by your child’s current school.
As with our Bulk Entry Year (Year 7) we abide by the admissions criteria (link)
Regardless of whether there are places available or not in a particular year, the school considers every application in regards to our criteria. The information is assessed by the Administration Team which is then shared to both the Head Teacher and the school’s Governors’ Panel. They make the final decision. The school has to notify you of their decision within 10 school days.
All unsuccessful applications are offered either a place on the waiting list or the right to Appeal via a BANES Admission Panel. Once the appeal is logged with BANES, all future communication is done through BANES. The process can take up to a month to resolve (depending on how many appeals BANES receives).
Leaving the independent school system to join the state system is possible but the process is different. If your application for an In Year place is successful, you will be expected to accept the place within four weeks of the offer being made. This may mean that you have to forego a term’s fees. If you are unable to accept the place within the four week time-frame, we may consider removing the offer.
In order for your application to be considered you must have a BANES postal address. If you are moving and there will be a little time before you are able to provide this, we suggest you spend the time visiting Hayesfield and other local schools to ensure that we are the best fit for your daughter.
We keep a constant review of our waiting list and where possible try to accommodate In Year Applications. We keep your application on the waiting list for a school term after which we will be requesting you resubmit your application if you are interested. We destroy all data at the point that your daughter’s application is removed from the waiting list. It is important to note that inclusion on the school’s waiting list does not mean that a place will become available.
If offered a place at Hayesfield, we expect it to be accepted and a start date agreed within four weeks. This may mean that you have to forgo any school fees/deposits. We recommend that you discuss your plans with your daughter’s current school before applying to Hayesfield.
