Hayesfield A Level Students Continue to Hit the Heights

Hayesfield’s Year 13 students and their teachers are celebrating a truly inspiring set of results in their A Level exams. As a cohort they began their Sixth Form journey with their education disrupted by lockdowns and the A Level exams were their first public exam experience since Year 6! We are incredibly proud of how they have overcome every obstacle in their path and achieved a set of results that have beaten our pre-pandemic performance levels.

All of their hard work has paid dividends with 25% of students gaining 3 A levels at AAB or better, 28% of all entries at A/A* and nearly 60% of our students achieving 3+ A*-B.

Headteacher Philip White said: “The resilience of this cohort has impressed universities and employers with 94% of our students gaining their chosen university course or apprenticeship placement. It is testimony to the partnerships between students and their teachers who have provided such effective support and guidance that they have achieved their ambitions.”

Catherine Trueman, Director of Sixth Form said “ We are so proud of all they have achieved academically, but even more proud of the maturity, leadership and growth they have shown in supporting each other and the wider school community.”

Significant numbers of our students are heading to Russell Group universities and 4 students are heading to Oxbridge; Holly Powell A*A*A* (Veterinary Science, Cambridge),
Jasmine Todman (Natural Sciences, Cambridge), Amie Clark A*A*A (A*EPQ) (Law, Oxford) and Esme Dannatt A*AB (Philosophy & Linguistics, Oxford).

Six students are taking up places on Art Foundation courses and we are delighted that we are continuing our tradition of Hayesfield students joining the prestigious Norland Nannies with Charlotte Price donning the famous uniform in September.

At Hayesfield we provide a broad curriculum offer and are very proud of the achievements of students who sat vocational qualifications. 47% of students who sat the Business qualification achieved a Distinction* with an impressive 85% achieving the top 2 grades. A special mention to Phoebe Anstey who achieved 2 Distinctions in Business and in Health & Social Care and is heading to Cardiff Metropolitan University to study Business. Beth Glossop also achieved a Distinction in Health & Social Care as well as an A grade in Criminology alongside a B grade in A Level RS and is heading to Swansea to study Sociology & Social Policy.

In a remarkable year, supported by the first year of the Sixth Form led Law Society, we saw 13 students gain offers to study Law at University, nearly 10% of the cohort! We’re also happy to buck national trends by supporting significant numbers of students to go on to study STEM subjects and languages at University.

Congratulations to our joint Head Students seen here with Mr White celebrating fantastic results; Jocelyn Hubbard AAAC (Physics with a European Language, Nottingham) & Caitlin Bellworthy A*AA (Philosophy & Politics, Exeter)

Further Outstanding achievements were noted from:

Sam Eve AAA (Medicine, Liverpool )
Fleur Preedy A*AA (Medicine, Brighton & Sussex)
