U12 Football County Cup
Well done to the mighty Y7 football team who won their Somerset County Cup second round game against Backwell School 16-0!
The girls were prolific in their goal scoring scoring 8 goals by half time and an impressive 3 in the first 4 minutes!
It was great to see so many girls get on the team sheet and a special mention to Chiho 7ER who scored from a corner and Arabella 7PL who got a hat trick and player of the match.
It was a great game and we now look forward to next Wednesday’s National Cup game against Mangotsfield School.
U15 / U16 B&NES Hockey Tournament Results
On Wednesday 4th December Wellsway hosted the U’16 BANES Hockey tournament. Due to the continued high level of commitment from our senior hockey girls we were able to enter two teams, an U’15 team (Y10 in yellow)) and an U’16 (Y11) side.
The tournament draw saw the two HGS teams playing each other first. This was a tightly contested game, with high levels of energy, skill level and determination from both teams. Despite the Y11 team taking an early lead, it was the Y10 that finished with the victory with the end score of 3-2.
The U’16 team then went on to beat Wellsay 12-2, and St Greg’s 6-1, and the U’15’s won their games against St Greg’s 10-1 and Wellsway 5-1.
This was a very special evening of Hockey for Hayesfield. The U’15 team ended as BANES champions with the U’16s finishing as Runners up. But, perhaps more importantly, it marks the end of the U’16 team’s time together, which they did in style, playing some outstanding hockey and having a great time together. I would like to thank them for their commitment to hockey, and for being a truly awesome group of girls to enjoy hockey with.
