U13 Girls’ Round 2 County Indoor Cricket Competition
The U13 girls have qualified for the County Final at Somerset CCC Indoor School, Taunton on March 19th! Two fantastic performances away at St.Katherine’s on Tuesday 4th March saw our girls beat Backwell in the first game and then St.Katherine’s in the second game to qualify as the strongest state school in the county. We will now compete against the top qualifying Independent schools for a place in the South West Regional Finals. All 8 members of the team made invaluable contributions to each match with their accurate bowling, confident batting and outstanding fielding. Our tight fielding skills limited the runs scored by our opposition and we were brilliant at supporting and encouraging our team mates after every ball. The girls created a wonderful, positive environment for one another and we were so proud of their attitude and dedication to every ball! Congratulations to Charlotte and Grace who were voted players of the match. We are looking forward to watching this exciting team play at the County Final, congratulations girls and good luck!
U13 Team: Bella (7EL), Lucy (7SL), Charlotte 7PR, Grace (7SR), Isabelle (8PR), Farrah (8AR), Sofia (7PR) and Holly (7SR).
Year 8/9 B&NES Champions!
On Tuesday our Year 8/9 footballers played at the B&NES tournament in Somervale School. The girls showcased their footballing talents, alongside their teamwork and leadership skills. They played 4 games in a row in the group stages beating St Greg’s 2 – 0, with goals from Lexi L (8SL) and Sophia W (8SL), drawing 0 – 0 with Oldfield and Wellsway and beating Chew Valley 2 – 0 with both goals from Sophia W (8SL).
After our group games we finished level on points with Oldfield with the score cards going to goal difference. We finished the group stage in 2 nd , however, we had done
enough to progress to the semi’s. We met a strong Ralph Allen team but the Hayesfield girls remained composed and done what they do best fighting for every ball, putting passes together with confidence and creating those goal scoring opportunities.
Lexi L (8SL) hit the back of the net with minutes to spare progressing us to the final. The final seen us coming head-to-head with Oldfield again. Knowing this was going to be a tough the girls emptied the tanks and some lovely football was played again. A special mention to Tilly P (8PR) who pulled off two amazing saves to keep Oldfield at bay. Sophia W (8SL) put us in the lead with her 5th goal of the day. We stayed composed and calm, bringing home the win and the title of B&NES Champions!
Well done girls, you are a pleasure to watch playing!
