U15 Hockey vs Kingswood
The U’15 squad showed great resilience in very wet and cold conditions on Monday night against Kingswood’s A team. Despite the big difference in playing time and experience our girls fought hard to the end. We showed some great defending skills and worked well as a team, making the most of any attacking chances, which included scoring our goal from a textbook short corner routine (injection by Maisie (10SR), straight strike from Lily (10SR)). Although the final score was 5-1 the girls can be very proud of their performance and attitude.
U15 Hockey vs Wellsway
We travelled to Wellsway to play their U’16 team in preparation for the BANES tournament in a couple of weeks time. The girls played some excellent team hockey, with great attacking play, some beautiful passing moves and were well backed up by our solid defence. Another great short corner routine resulted in our first goal in the first half, and the second came in the second half from a great solo effort from Lily (10SR). Well done girls!
U12 Avon Plate Champions
On Wednesday 20th November our U’12 squad entered the Avon School’s County plate competition. We were one of 8 schools to play in the round robin tournament, and the only state school! This was their first tournament they have played together and they all worked tirelessly to support each other and play some great hockey. Three hours of hockey, seven games, six wins, ten goals scored and none conceded resulted in us winning the tournament! Congratulations to Rose (7EL), Charlotte (7PR), Sofia (7PR), Bea (7EL), India (7PL), Flo (7SL), Lucy (7SL), Esme (7SR).

National Swimming Finals Success
On Saturday 16th November we travelled to Sandwell Aquatics centre to compete in the secondary schools’ Team championships. The girls had qualified for both the Freestyle and Medley relays by being ranked in the top 30 of all teams in the country from the regional competitions. After a formal opening ceremony and a speech from the Mayor, the girls took to the pool in the Freestyle relay first. A fantastic swim from all girls saw them finish in 12th place in the country and the best non-selective state school in England! After such a success they then swam in the Medley relay, and again produced some excellent performances. Having qualified for the finals in 17th place, they managed to improve their ranking to 14th in the country. An absolutely fantastic effort, and one the girls should be very proud of!
