Our Vision
“Music gives a soul to the universe” – Plato
The Music department, part of the beating heart of Hayesfield, delivers a broad and ambitious curriculum with a strong focus on practical music making. We seek to develop the core skills of singing, performing, composing and listening and through this engender a lifelong love of music and an understanding of how music works. Students will also have their eyes opened to the wide variety or career choices available within music and through music. Many careers in music can be perceived as having a gender bias. As a girls’ school, Hayesfield ensures that these biases are broken down in order that all students see all music paths as relevant and accessible should they so choose.

Instrumental Lessons
There is no better way to access music than to learn an instrument. If you cannot source a teacher outside of school then we have a team of skilled teachers ready to teach your daughter/ son any instrument of their choice. We draw teachers from both the private sector and WEMA Music Service. Lessons take place during the school day and students will leave normal lessons in order to attend their music lesson. Lessons are commonly 1:1 for 30 minutes. You can apply for lessons via the following link:
If you need to purchase an instrument for your daughter/ son then you may be able to benefit from the Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme which enables you to purchase the instrument through the school and not pay VAT. Further details of the scheme are available via the link below:
