Welcome to Hayesfield Girls’ School, please find more details below about our Transition Events.
May/June 2024: Primary School Visits
Our Transition Lead will be speaking to all primary school teachers and visiting primary schools.
Thursday 13th June 2024: Welcome Evening for all new Year 7 students
We are delighted to invite you to our launch event of our transition programme, our Year 6 Welcome Evening. This is an opportunity to meet some of the key staff who will be working with your daughter and find out more information about the next steps on her Hayesfield journey. The evening is split into two parts – a presentation in our Theatre followed by an opportunity to speak to some students and staff and find out more information about some key areas.
Saturday 15th June 2024: Cognitive Ability Assessments (CATs) and Reading Assessments
All students complete CATs before starting at Hayesfield. On Saturday 15th June, your daughter will be completing some simple multiple-choice quizzes on a computer which will help us to find out more about your daughter’s innate ability with numbers, patterns, and literacy. The information provided by these simple tests will allow us to learn more about your daughter’s strengths and advise us how best to address her learning needs so that she can meet her potential. There is no need to revise for these quizzes as they are not based on prior-learning, and they are actually quite enjoyable!
In addition, students will also be completing a NGRT online reading assessment on the day. Please see the invitation you have been emailed for your daughter to attend. Students can wear their own clothes.
A catch up session will be arranged for all students unable to attend on Saturday 15th June 2024
Thursday 4th July 2024: Year 6 Induction Day
This is an opportunity for students to visit the school, take part in taster lessons and become familiar with the school site. Students should wear their primary school uniform and bring a pair of trainers with them for a sports activity.
