Students in Years 7 to 11 will only be allowed to buy a basic sandwich at lunch time if their account is overdrawn. This concession will only be permitted for a limited time if the account balance remains overdrawn.
Refectories
At both our Upper Oldfield Park and Brougham Hayes refectories, we cook all our meals using local suppliers and fresh ingredients; we believe this is essential for the good health of all our students. It is important to have a healthy nutritional balanced diet to promote effective learning and wellbeing.
In addition to the high quality of our food, we pride ourselves on the high standards of cleanliness in our kitchens. Both of our kitchens have been awarded a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 following an inspection by BANES Environmental Services. This is the highest rating that can be awarded to an organisation for food hygiene and reflects the high standards of cleanliness that our Catering Team work to on a daily basis.
Aims and Objectives
- Improve the health of all the students, staff and their families by increasing their knowledge and awareness of food
- To promote and develop ‘healthy’ lifestyle foods which will take them beyond Hayesfield and further on into their lives
- To make students aware of all different cuisines within our society e.g. religious, ethnic, vegetarian, medical and allergic needs
- To make the eating of food a positive and sociable experience
- To contribute to the healthy development of all members of our school community
Break Time Breakfast

We provide healthy breakfast snacks for students during their morning break.

Food Allergies and Intolerances
If you have a food allergy or intolerance please check our menu for details before ordering or speak to our catering staff about your requirements. All food is prepared in an environment where no cross contamination of allergens can be guaranteed.
Whilst we commit to not using nuts in the ingredients of food that we prepare, we cannot guarantee that our School is a nut free environment. There are occasions where we will serve food that is manufactured in an environment where there may be nuts present, so there may be traces of nuts in these items.
We ask our students, their parents and staff to not bring items containing nuts into School, to respect those in our community who have nut allergies.
