BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

LEAP

Hayesfield Mixed Sixth offers a comprehensive Learning, Enrichment Activity Programme (LEAP) designed to broaden students’ horizons beyond the core curriculum. This vibrant programme provides a diverse range of opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and the exploration of new interests.

Through LEAP, students can engage in a variety of activities, from academic clubs and creative arts workshops to sporting pursuits and community service initiatives, fostering a well-rounded educational experience that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and the development of valuable life skills.

The Hayesfield LEAP provision is designed to provide a wealth of opportunities for students to:

  • ‘Extend’ their learning in subjects they are studying
  • ‘Enrich’ their life experiences by trying activities which may be new to them
  • ‘Support’ gained in a subject area, or with a certain skill

They run from 3.25pm – 4.25pm unless otherwise stated.  We want all our students to be able to achieve their academic and personal best and the LEAP programme is an integral part of that. Your daughter/son will need to make a minimum of 5 selections on SchoolsBuddy.

If your daughter/son has been selected for a school sports team or attends additional support: If your daughter/son has been selected for an activity where participants are selected by trials (eg; Netball Development Squads, Cheer Squads) or invited to attend for additional support (eg; Bullet Journalling) then this will automatically be added to her LEAP selections and will appear on SchoolsBuddy when all allocations have been confirmed and will count towards LEAP participation. The same will apply for any other support or intervention groups. Again, she can still complete the main selection process for additional LEAP activities but she does not have to.

If your daughter/son no longer wishes to participate in a team she has been selected for, it is important that she informs the relevant staff as soon as possible so places can be offered to other students.

Places are limited for some activities, so we cannot guarantee all students will be offered their first preference. Places are allocated by preference, then a random allocation if that particular activity is oversubscribed.
