BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

DofE Award

At Hayesfield we have a long tradition of offering the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to all our students. The Bronze Award is offered to all Year 9 students, and usually around 100 of them take up the challenge each year. The Gold Award is offered to all Year 12 students, and usually around 60 of them take up the challenge each year. We also offer the Silver award for Year 10 students.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award offers young people the opportunity to get recognition for extra-curricular activities they undertake and to try new activities.

For each of your DofE sections, you need to choose an activity. Remember – you own your DofE programme and have the freedom to choose activities that are specific and relevant to you.

Don’t worry if you can’t find exactly what you want to do, speak to your Leader – most activities can count towards your DofE. All we ask is that any new activity is checked with your Licensed Organisation/DofE Leader to make sure it’s counted for the right section and that you’ve set yourself enough of a challenge.

Participants can use the DofE app to plan activities, get approval from Leaders, record evidence, submit programmes for completion and more.

Plus, you can use it to sync important dates to your phone calendar and add your personalised DofE Card to your digital wallet, so you can make the most of your exclusive discounts.

For now, the app’s mainly for participants — but adults with an eDofE account can download it, log in and add their DofE Card to their digital wallet. We’re looking into expanding full functionality to Leaders in future.

Simply click Apple or Google to download, or go to the App Store or Google Play on your phone, search ‘DofE’, download for free, use your eDofE details to log in — and you’re ready to go.

If you would prefer to keep paper records, you can download Activity Record Sheets below.

You can then scan these in at school and upload them on the eDofE system.

For each Activity Section you should submit some evidence to show what you have been doing eg: screenshots of your C25K App you are completing for your Physical Section, pictures of your progress making a textile for your Skill, before and after pictures of the Section of River pathway you are litter picking. You could also submit a timesheet or log of the days and times you have done for each section. This will help show what you have done, and prove to your assessor that you have completed work. We may also use this to highlight the fantastic work or personal journeys our participants are going on.

Where this isn’t possible you can ask them to complete a written assessment in your log book that the DofE will send to you in the post.
