Welcome to Hayesfield Girls’ School

Hayesfield is a thriving, vibrant state school in which girls feel safe, valued and happy. We have a strong belief in traditional values and set high standards in our work, conduct and appearance. We also place emphasis on developing the skills and values that will enable our students to become thinking, informed and confident adults who will be able to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.

At Hayesfield we consistently strive to make progress and this is reflected in examination results at GCSE, which are always in the top 10% of schools nationally. At A Level, the already high standards continue to improve. We feel that this success is attributed to our focus on the quality of learning as our students benefit from being educated by a highly talented, reflective, dedicated and caring team of professionals.

Girls flourish in a single-sex learning environment. Alongside our high academic aspirations we believe in enabling our students to develop into well-rounded and independent learners, encouraging them to take on leadership roles across the school and participate in our superb range of extracurricular activities, clubs and societies. There are over 90 after-school clubs to choose from and these are designed to build on students’ existing talents or support them in taking the risk to explore new interests.

We have a strong focus on character education and our four values of moral courage, self-confidence, resilience and limitless aspirations are at the heart of everything we do here, forming the backbone of our rewards system. Students are placed in one of four Houses that are each named after a woman, chosen by our students, who firmly represents one of the four school values:

Austen: Self-Confidence
Earhart: Resilience
Parks: Moral Courage
Sharman: Limitless Aspirations

Having joined Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership family of schools in April 2021, Hayesfield now works closely with Beechen Cliff School, the local boys’ school, and St Mark’s School, which is a small coeducational Church of England secondary school. The three schools in Bath share a common vision, which is to ensure that students across our city achieve their personal best.

As a girls’ school, Hayesfield provides the freedom from stereotyping that allows its students to have limitless aspirations for themselves and acquire the skills and confidence needed to be tomorrow’s leaders. Without doubt, being a student at Hayesfield Girls’ School is demanding and challenging. Ultimately though, our girls find it a truly enjoyable, rewarding and stimulating experience.

“Defiantly, proudly, pre-eminently a girls’ school, freshened up by a mixed sixth form. A particular hooray for the school’s emphasis on STEM subjects for girls – this is a place where they can literally reach for the stars.”
